Fairfax Academy has been recognised among the top 25% of secondary schools nationally for attendance, earning two prestigious FFT National Attendance Awards for the 2025/26 academic year.
The academy was recognised both for overall attendance nationally and for attendance among similar schools serving comparable communities, placing it among the highest-performing schools in the country.
Presented by FFT, a nationally respected education data organisation, the awards celebrate schools that demonstrate exceptional attendance and a strong commitment to ensuring students benefit from being in school every day.
Principal of Fairfax Academy, Mr Sean Castle, said: “We take a really supportive and holistic approach to attendance. In the last year we have expanded our student support network, which includes student mental health ambassadors and dedicated wellbeing spaces such as our new SEMH room. It’s made a real difference to many of our students and, as a school, we’re dedicated to working one-on-one with students, families and carers to remove any barriers to attendance.”
The recognition marks the third consecutive year Fairfax Academy has received FFT attendance awards, with the academy consistently maintaining attendance levels that surpass the national average.
Mr Castle added: “Attendance is about far more than being present in lessons. It’s about ensuring every young person has access to the opportunities, support and experiences that help them succeed. We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful to the families and staff who have contributed to this achievement.”
As the academy celebrates this latest success, leaders remain committed to building on this achievement and ensuring every student continues to benefit from being in school every day.
